"Don't Make Excuses" AKA "Razz"
4 year old Thoroughbred Gelding
Bay, 17.1 hands, 1400lbs
June 21, 2010 will be a day we remember in our hearts forever. My Razz ("Don't Make Excuses"), was laid to rest. Razz was a beautiful and talented young thoroughbred gelding whom stole the hearts of all who met him. He stood 17.1 hands tall and weighed 1400lbs. No matter how big he was he was as gentle as a butterfly. We lost our dear Razz to EPM (EQUINE PROTOZOAL MYELOENCEPHALITIS) (http://www.epmhorse.org/default.html , visit for more information). We noticed some common changes in our Razz and quickly things spiraled downhill. Treatments were not effecting him and his behavior was becoming dangerous. EPM has proven to me to be one of the most scary diseases I have encountered in horses.
Today I sit here still sad and lonely without my Razz. He meant a lot to everyone but he was my best friend and my dream come true. When I go to
the barn or look out of my back window it feels empty and dark. I have had many horses in my life but only this one stole everything I had to give. He loved my children and everyone who I introduced him to. He was always happy and kind.
I have cried many tears for you Razz. I love you and miss you terribly. Your sweet and subtle cuddles were so precious. Every morning when I go to feed I still look for you to be in the barn or standing in the pasture patiently . I hold your halter sometimes and think about the many moments we shared together, just you and me. Your cute little puppy dog face still makes me smile. Razz I love you and I hope you are running and playing in wide open fields. I hope you stand by my side as I move forward day by day. Razz I miss you! One day we will meet again. Hugs and Kisses.
Good night, Sleep tight.
